What is ISO 19935-2 about?
ISO 19935 discusses temperature modulated differential scanning calorimetry of plastics. ISO 19935-2 is the second part of the multi-series ISO 19935 and discusses the measurement of specific heat capacity. ISO 19935-2 states the methods to determine the heat capacity of plastic through DSC methods for maintaining the quality level of the product.
ISO 19935-2 establishes a method for measurement of specific heat capacity, cp, using temperature modulated differential scanning calorimetry.
Who is ISO 19935-2 for?
ISO 19935-2 on measurement of heat capacity of plastic is relevant for:
- Plastic manufacturers
- Plastic product manufacturers
- Quality control personnel
Why should you use ISO 19935-2?
Specific heat capacity (cp) is a material property describing the energy required to induce a certain change in the temperature of a unit mass of the material. DSC is a thermal analysis technique in which the heat flow in and out of a sample is measured as a function of temperature or time.
ISO 19935-2 describes the realization of standardized thermoanalytical test methods which can be used for the determination of specific heat capacity data needed for datasheets or databases as well as for research purposes. ISO 19935-2 can also be applied to quality assurance or to routine checks of raw materials and finished products if desired. The procedures mentioned in ISO 19935-2 apply as long as special product standards or standards describing special atmospheres for conditioning of samples do not require alternate regulations.
Determining specific heat capacity can give an indication of how much energy will be required to heat or cool an object of a given mass by a given amount. This can give information as to how long the heating or cooling process will take under a given supply, as well as the cost implications thereof as it helps you for making the best quality products.
