What is ISO 20766‑12 – Non-return valve of LPG fuel systems about?
ISO 20766 is a series of international standards on road vehicles that specifies general information regarding the non-return valve component of liquefied petroleum gas fuel, intended for use on the types of motor vehicles.
ISO 20766‑12 is the 12th part of the ISO 20766 series of documents that provides general design principles and specifies requirements for instructions and marking. It also specifies test requirements for the non-return valve.
NOTE: ISO 20766‑12 is applicable to vehicles (mono-fuel, bi-fuel or dual-fuel applications) using gaseous fuels in accordance with ISO 9162.
NOTE: ISO 20766‑12 is not applicable to the following:
- Fuel containers
- Stationary gas engines
- Container mounting hardware
- Electronic fuel management
- Refuelling receptacles.
Who is ISO 20766‑12 – Non-return valve of LPG fuel systems for?
ISO 20766‑12 on LPG fuel systems components is useful for:
- Manufacturers of LPG fuel vehicles
- Road vehicle engineers
- Mechanical engineers
- LPG suppliers
- Manufacturers and suppliers of pipes and valves
Why should you use ISO 20766‑12 – Non-return valve of LPG fuel systems?
A non-return valve allows a medium to flow in only one direction and is fitted to ensure that the medium flows through a pipe in the right direction, where pressure conditions may otherwise cause reversed flow.
ISO 20766‑12 gives marking guidelines so that the users and manufacturer can trace the product in accordance with working pressure and temperature range, the direction of flow (when necessary for correct installation), the flow capacity, type of fuel, and electrical ratings.
ISO 20766‑12 navigates you through the requirements on the construction and assembly of the non-return valve.
ISO 20766‑12 describes the test methods for non-return and guides manufacturers with tools to improve their product by outlining tests that protect the device from internal and external leakage, perform continued operations and ensure hydraulic strength.
Moreover, ISO 20766‑12 could help you in designing and manufacturing non-return valves for road vehicles to prevent fuel tank and line leaks with easy installation and corrosion resistance.
With obedience and compliance to ISO 20766‑12, you can achieve precision in terms of product functionality.
