What is ISO 20766‑18 - Hose component of LPG fuel systems about?
ISO 20766 is a series of international standards on road vehicles that specifies general information regarding the hose component of liquefied petroleum gas fuel, intended for use on the types of motor vehicles.
ISO 20766‑18 is the 18th part of the ISO 20766 series of documents that provides general design principles and specifies requirements for instructions and marking. It also specifies test requirements for the hose.
NOTE: ISO 20766‑18 is applicable to vehicles (mono-fuel, bi-fuel or dual-fuel applications) using gaseous fuels in accordance with ISO 9162.
NOTE: ISO 20766‑18 is not applicable to the following:
- Fuel containers
- Stationary gas engines
- Container mounting hardware
- Electronic fuel management
- Refuelling receptacles.
NOTE: Fully metal bendable hoses are excluded from ISO 20766‑18.
Who is ISO 20766‑18 - Hose component of LPG fuel systems for?
ISO 20766‑18 on LPG fuel systems is useful for:
- Manufacturers of LPG fuel vehicles
- Road vehicle engineers
- Mechanical engineers
- LPG suppliers
- Manufacturers of hose components
Why should you use ISO 20766‑18 - Hose component of LPG fuel systems?
Automotive hoses carry fluids to engines, radiators, and other vehicle components to fuel them, lubricate them, cool them, and keep them from malfunctioning.
ISO 20766‑18 gives marking guidelines so that the users and manufacturer can trace the product in accordance with working pressure and temperature range, the direction of flow (when necessary for correct installation), the flow capacity, type of fuel, and electrical ratings.
ISO 20766‑18 navigates you through the requirements on the construction and assembly of the rubber hose and synthetic hose designed to withstand the maximum operating pressure.
ISO 20766‑18 describes the test methods for hose components and guides manufacturers with tools to improve their product by outlining tests that protect the device.
The test is required to ensure hydraulic strength, high and low-temperature of the LPG flexible hose, the tensile strength and elongation of the rubber hose, permeability, bending test, impulse test and gas-tightness.
Moreover, ISO 20766‑18 could assist you in designing and manufacturing hose components used in road vehicles to withstand coolant under intense pressure, extreme temperatures, oils, dirt, and sludge maintaining the pressure while preventing leaks. In this manner, you can achieve sustainable and high-quality hoses that function smoothly in adverse conditions.
With obedience and compliance to ISO 20766‑18, you can achieve precision in terms of product functionality.
