What is ISO 21073 - Confocal microscopes about ?
ISO 21073 discusses optical data of fluorescence confocal microscopes for biological imaging.
ISO 21073 specifies commonly used quantities regarding image performance in confocal laser scanning microscopy used for imaging of fluorescent biological specimens.
ISO 21073 applies only to confocal single point scanners using single-photon excitation.
Who is ISO 21073 - Confocal microscopes for ?
ISO 21073 on optical data of fluorescence confocal microscopes for biological imaging is useful for:
- Microscope manufacturers
- Quality control laboratories
- Biologists
- Microscopic Researchers
Why should you use ISO 21073 - Confocal microscopes ?
For confocal imaging, the stability of the illumination power is of high importance.
In ISO 21073 the changes in the illumination power, which are on a time scale of the acquisition time of 2-dimensional images or 3-dimensional image stacks are considered.
ISO 21073 provides comparable specifications of confocal microscopes by microscope manufacturers and allows users to compare and monitor the imaging performance of their confocal microscopes.
