What is ISO 21436 about?
ISO 21436 is an international standard on the determination of lignin content in wood pulp.
ISO 21436 is applicable to an unbleached, bleached, and semi-bleached wood pulp with a lignin content above 1 %. It is not intended for fully bleached chemical pulp, because the lignin content in these pulps is too low to be determined accurately.
ISO 21436 describes the determination of acetone-soluble matter in pulp. It is applicable to all types of pulp.
Who is ISO 21436 for?
ISO 21436 on the determination of lignin content in wood pulp is useful for:
- Paper mills
- Print publication companies
- Testing laboratories/ test providers of wood pulp
Why should you use ISO 21436?
The main objective of measuring lignin in pulp is to assess the effect of a particular pulping or bleaching process on the degree of delignification.
ISO 21436 provides you with an acid hydrolysis method to determine lignin content and acetone-soluble matter in wood pulp.
ISO 21436 helps you to give your paper products a suitable texture and whiteness by enabling you to determine the lignin content in wood pulps.
