What is ISO 21475 – Determine the wavelength-dependent degradation of plastics about?
ISO 21475 determine the wavelength-dependent degradation of plastics. This international standard helps its users to produce products that are more durable to ultraviolet radiation.
ISO 21475 specifies methods of determining the spectral response of all kinds of plastic materials to ultraviolet and visible radiation by an irradiation test with spectrally dispersed irradiation.
Note: Typical specimens that are evaluated include: films, liquids, plaques, pellets, powders, sheets, and discs.
Who is ISO 21475 – Determine the wavelength-dependent degradation of plastics for?
ISO 21475 determine the wavelength-dependent degradation of plastics is useful for:
- Plastic industries
- Plastic testing laboratories
Why should you use ISO 21475 – Determine the wavelength-dependent degradation of plastics?
Plastics are used outdoors and indoors where they are exposed to solar radiation, to solar radiation filtered by window glass, and to artificial radiation sources for long periods. Therefore, information on the wavelength-dependent degradation of a polymer property (e.g., optical, and mechanical) within the ultraviolet and visible solar spectrum is important. The results of this test determine the spectral sensitivity of a property change over the range of the ultraviolet and the visible solar spectrum.
ISO 21475 provides you with the terms and definitions required for the functionality of methods of exposure to determine the wavelength-dependent degradation using spectrally dispersed radiation. ISO 21475 provides you with the guidance apparatus and test specimens required for the test method. ISO 21475 guides you with exposure parameters, test procedures, and test reports. ISO 21475 helps you manufacture more durable products.
