What is ISO 21628 about?
ISO 21628 is an international standard that discusses garden machinery. It details safety specifications for powered material-collecting systems which ensures the safe operability and longevity of gardening machinery.
ISO 21628 specifies safety requirements and the means for their verification specific to the design and construction of powered material-collecting systems used in agriculture, gardening and area maintenance (such as landscaping).
ISO 21628 is applicable to mounted, semi-mounted or trailed machines manufactured after the date of its publication. ISO 21628 specifies means for eliminating or reducing mechanical hazards when the material-collecting system is used as intended.
Note: ISO 21628 does not apply to -
- Environmental hazards, road safety, electromagnetic compatibility
- Power take-off (PTO), PTO drive shaft guarding or control requirements
- Machines within the scope of ISO 5395-2 or ISO 5395-3
Who is ISO 21628 for?
ISO 21628 on safety requirements for powered material-collecting systems is applicable to:
- Manufacturers of gardening machinery
- Dealers and importers of gardening machinery
- Quality control personnel
- Safety inspection authorities
Why should you use ISO 21628?
Powered material collecting systems play an important role in gardening. They play the role of collecting leaves, debris and help in landscaping. These are complex machines that are intended to ease manual gardening jobs; hence, safety is a crucial aspect of their applicability.
ISO 21628 provides you with detailed coverage on hazards and hazardous events related to powered material-collecting systems that can help you to ensure the safety and protection of gardening machinery. ISO 21628 also provides you extensive guidance on safety requirements which includes, design guidance, airflow, hopper discharge, stability, clearance zone etc. These details can help you to enhance the safety and protection of powered material-collecting systems.
The guidelines given in ISO 21628 enables you to fulfil all the necessary safety requirements for powered material-collecting systems.
