What is ISO 21712 about?
ISO 21712 specifies a test method for determining the flexural bond strength of ceramic/ceramic joints or ceramic/metal joints at room temperature. The substrate materials, for example ceramic or metal, are both monolithic.
This method can be used to test the interfacial bond strength of the joint under bending conditions. It can be used for the development of joining materials and/or for the quality control of joints, the characterization and generating design data purposes.
Who is ISO 21712 for?
ISO 21712 on test method for flexural bond strength of ceramics is relevant to:
- Ceramic industry
- Mechanical engineers
Why should you use ISO 21712?
Flexural strength, also known as modulus of rupture, or bend strength, or transverse rupture strength is a material property, defined as the stress in a material just before it yields in a flexure test.
The flexural strength represents the highest stress experienced within the material at its moment of yield. It is measured in terms of stress.
Flexural bond strength of ceramic/ceramic joints is also used for the development of joining materials.
Flexural bond strength is a very important aspect as it depicts the highest stress at yield, ISO 21712 specifies a test to determine the same. With the determination of flexural strength, you can ensure credibility and reliability in your production.
