What is ISO 21723 - Modular coordination about?
ISO 21723 is an international standard that discusses buildings and civil engineering works. This international standard helps its users to reduce the time spent in the designing phase by standardizing the dimensions of buildings and their components.
ISO 21723 establishes the values of basic modules, multi modules for horizontal coordinating dimensions and sub-modular increments for use in modular coordination of buildings. ISO 21723 also specifies preferred vertical modular dimensions, a series of preferred multimodular sizes for horizontal dimensions for all types in accordance with general principles and rules for modular coordination.
Who is ISO 21723 - Modular coordination for?
ISO 21723 on modular coordination in buildings and civil engineering works is useful for:
- Architects
- Real estate developers
- Civil engineers
Why should you use ISO 21723 - Modular coordination?
Modular coordination is a concept of coordination of dimension and space, in which buildings and components are dimensioned and positioned in a term of a basic unit or module, known as ‘1M’ which is equivalent to 100 mm
ISO 21723 enables ease of assembly by establishing dimensions of the building and its preconstructed components. The guidance of ISO 21723 helps to reduce designing time.
Overall, ISO 21723 ensures dimensional coordination between the additional installations and the buildings.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 21723:2019 replaces ISO 1006:1983, ISO 1040:1983, ISO 6512:1982, ISO 6513:1982 and ISO 6514:1982, which have now been merged into one document with a new logical structuring.
