What is ISO 21755‑2 about?
ISO 21755‑2 is the second part of the ISO 21755 series of documents that specifies a basic measurement method by using a permeation test procedure for evaporative emissions from motorcycles.
NOTE: ISO 21755‑2 is applicable to motorcycles equipped with a fuel tank to store liquid high volatile fuel and with a spark-ignition engine (four-stroke engine, two-stroke engine, or rotary piston engine).
Who is ISO 21755‑2 for?
ISO 21755‑2 on evaporative emissions from motorcycles is useful for:
- Manufacturers of motorcycles
- Manufacturers of fuel tanks and pipes
Why should you use ISO 21755‑2?
The fuel tank of every vehicle is subject to the highest safety regulations. ISO 21755‑2 specifies the measurement method for evaporative emissions from motorcycles by using a permeation test procedure.
ISO 21755‑2 provides a description of the fuel tank and fuel line assembly permeability test procedure and to precondition the fuel tank certain steps are mentioned.
The deterioration factor (DF) can be determined when applying the full permeation test procedure.
With ISO 21755‑2, you can demonstrate the fuel tank durability test that includes pressure cycling test, sunlight exposure test, and slosh test.
Fuel line assembly test requirements include the fuel hose clamps and the material to which the fuel lines are connected on both sides, by performing a physical test is provided in ISO 21755‑2.
Overall, ISO 21755‑2 let you manufacture motorcycles to determine the permeation resistance to maintain or even improve the performance of their products without compromising safety.
