What's changed?
Key differences from the previous edition (PD ISO/TS 22002 5:2019) include:
The standard has been ‘upgraded’ from a Technical Specification to a full International Standard, reflecting broader consensus and formalization.
- Refined scope: the new edition focuses exclusively on transport and storage, removing broader supply chain elements that were previously included.
- Separation of common requirements: Common PRP requirements are now housed in ISO 22002 100, which must be used in conjunction with this document. This modular structure improves clarity and consistency across different sectors of the food chain.
- Expanded terminology: New definitions have been added for terms such as cross-docking, transshipment, packed/unpacked goods, and hazardous substances, enhancing precision and applicability.
- Enhanced requirements for controlled conditions: More robust systems for monitoring and documenting temperature, humidity, and other environmental factors.
- Enhanced requirements for goods identification: Comprehensive traceability protocols, including identifiers, dates, and condition profiles for each logistic unit.
