What is ISO 22098 about?
ISO 22098 specifies a full-scale test method for propeller cavitation observation and hull pressure measurement. The objective of the test is to investigate the propeller cavitation behaviour and its effects on the hull vibration problems.
ISO 22098 is applicable to ships in the following stages:
- Before or during sea-trial, prior to the delivery stage (vessels under constructions)
- After delivery stage
Who is ISO 22098 for?
ISO 22098 on ships and marine technology is applicable to:
- Maritime industries
- Maritime Organizations
- Craft and ship components manufacturers
- Shipbuilding and naval manufacturers
- Maritime components manufacturers (OEM’s)
Why should you use ISO 22098?
ISO 22098 provides you with test methods that comprise the specification of the test instrumentation and implementation, construction requirements to ensure structural safety, test and measurement procedures, and reporting documentation.
Following the guidelines in ISO 22098 improve the comprehensive propeller performance by evaluation of propeller cavitation behaviour and its related hull pressure. With ISO 22098 test methods you can avoid vibrations, noise and propeller blade erosion in all types of propellers.
Full-scale cavitation observations and hull pressure measurements guidelines in ISO 22098 are very helpful for propeller design and prediction of full-scale performance through the model test. This full-scale test method is required to establish a more precise model-ship correlation, develop better experimental methodologies, and identify the source of unanticipated problems such as blade damage.
ISO 22098 was developed to provide a standardized full-scale test method for propeller cavitation observation and hull pressure measurement.
