What is ISO 22248 about?
ISO 22248 is an international standard used for lasers and laser equipment that specifies the test methods for laser-induced damage threshold which helps in identifying the damages of medical beam delivery system.
ISO 22248 specifies a method of testing the laser-induced ignition and damage of medical beam delivery systems to allow checking of suitable products according to the classification system.
Note 1: Take care when interpreting these results since the direct applicability of the results of this test method to the clinical situation has not been fully established.
Note 2: Users of products tested by this method are cautioned that the laser will be wavelength sensitive and tested at the wavelength for which it is intended to be used. If tested using other wavelengths, the power settings and modes of beam delivery need to be explicitly stated.
Who is ISO 22248 for?
ISO 22248 on Lasers and laser-related equipment is useful for:
- Manufacturers of laser equipment
- Hospitals
- Healthcare industries
- Manufacturers of hospital and healthcare industry equipment
Why should you use ISO 22248?
Lasers are devices that emit light through a process of  optical amplification based on the stimulated emission of electromagnetic radiation.
ISO 22248 helps you in measuring the laser-induced ignition, flame spread and damage of medical beam delivery systems. This ISO 22248 helps in providing oxygen to the medical beam delivery system at a controllable flow rate and helps in sustaining the equipment in different climatic conditions. ISO 22248 will help you in delivering the radiation to the target by connecting applicators in laser equipment.
ISO 22248 helps in performing the laser-induced damage threshold test which results in classifying the damages of medical beam delivery systems. The damages classified can be reduced, which will result in producing better quality laser equipment.
