What is ISO 22252 about?
ISO 22252 specifies performance requirements and gives recommendations for the design of breathing air supply and CO2 absorption systems of manned submersibles, capable of maintaining suitable life support conditions in the manned compartments.
ISO 22252 is applicable to manned submersibles where the internal pressure of the manned compartments is normally maintained at or near to one atmosphere.
Note: ISO 22252 does not apply to submersibles where occupants endure pressures higher than one atmosphere (such as in diving bells, for example) and ISO 22252 is not applicable to submersibles designed to carry passengers or divers in a separate compartment capable of being pressurised to higher than one atmosphere inside the pressure hull (such as in submarine rescue compartments, for example.
Who is ISO 22252 for?
ISO 22252 on manned submersibles is applicable to:
- Maritime industries
- Maritime Organizations
- Shipbuilding
- Shipbuilding and naval products manufacturers
Why should you use ISO 22252?
The guidelines provided in ISO 22252 helps you design breathing air supply and CO2 absorption systems of manned submersibles by providing performance requirements and guidelines that ensure the life support conditions and to save human life from any potential hazards or accident.
ISO 22252 assists you in improving the performance of breathing air supply and CO2 absorption systems, as well as increasing the efficiency for safe and continuous operation.
By adopting ISO 22252 you can build effective breathing air supply and CO2 adsorption systems and have the quality assurance to ensure that manned submersibles are produced according to the requirements and build trust in their use throughout the manned submersibles industry supply chain.
