What is ISO 22401 - Measurement of potential spray drift in horizontal boom sprayers about?
ISO 22401 is an international standard that serves technical specifications for the measurement of potential spray drift in horizontal boom sprayers, enabling uniform spraying in crop protection applications.
ISO 22401 provides a test method to measure spray sedimentation from horizontal boom sprayers using a test bench. The sedimentation measure gives a value for potential spray drift. These measurements can be used to compare different sprayer setups on the same sprayer.
ISO 22401 is applicable to mounted, trailed and self-propelled horizontal boom sprayers used in arable crops; and horizontal boom sprayers used for weed control in orchards/vineyards and spray application on horticultural crops.
ISO 22401 is intended for booms using a uniform set of spray generators. If intended for spray drift classification of the sprayer, the comparison is limited to nozzle type, spray pressure and boom height.
Who is ISO 22401 - Measurement of potential spray drift in horizontal boom sprayers for?
ISO 22401 on the measurement of potential spray drift in horizontal boom sprayers applies to:
- Manufacturers of spray
- Dealers and importers of spray
- Testing laboratories for sprayers
- Product development and certification services
- Weed control services
Why should you use ISO 22401 - Measurement of potential spray drift in horizontal boom sprayers?
Pesticide spray drift is the movement of pesticide dust or droplets in the air at the moment of application or shortly afterwards to a location other than the intended application site. Spray drift control has grown increasingly important in recent years, and buffer zones to mitigate the potential impact of spray drift have been routinely implemented for the efficiency of sprayers.
ISO 22401 provides users guidance on a method to measure spray sedimentation from horizontal boom sprayers using a test bench. ISO 22401 also provides users with a step-by-step procedure for the method, enabling users to do the method correctly.
ISO 22401 provides users guidance on principle, test materials, equipment, test conditions, test procedure, comparison, test report, reference sprayer setup, and example of a test bench, enabling the determination of spray drift to improve the efficiency in crop protection applications.
With obedience and compliance of ISO 22401, users can measure the spray drift in horizontal boom sprayers, enabling uniformity in spray applications that increases the efficiency and performance in crop protection applications.
