What is ISO 22407 about?
ISO 22407 specifies the conditions for conducting the plane bending fatigue test on an axial machine, constant-amplitude, force or displacement controlled, at room temperature on metallic specimens, without deliberately introduced stress concentrations.
Note: ISO 22407 does not apply to –
- Include the reversed/partially loading test which provides the relation between applied stress and number of cycles to failure for material condition.
- Component testing and other specialized forms of testing
- Fatigued tests on notched specimens as shape and size have not been specified, but the given fatigue-test procedures can be used for testing such notched specimens
Who is ISO 22407 for?
ISO 22407 on fatigue testing is applicable to:
- Metal component and machinery manufacturers
- Dealers, suppliers and importers of metallic materials
Why should you use ISO 22407?
Fatigue testing is a specialized type of mechanical testing in which a coupon or structure is subjected to cyclic loads. These tests are used to determine fatigue life and crack propagation, as well as to identify important places and demonstrate the safety of a structure that is prone to fatigue.
ISO 22407 helps you perform the axial plane bending method for fatigue testing by providing a detailed account of the necessary requirements and the procedure details for the method.
ISO 22407 gives you fatigue testing that provides relevant results, such as the relationship between applied stress and number of cycles to failure for a given material condition, proving it beneficial for expressing hardness and micro-structure of metallic materials.
The axial plane bending method for fatigue testing described in ISO 22407 helps you to determine the durability and service life of metals ensuring you select the suitable metallic material for specific applications.
