BS ISO 22531:2020

Optics and photonics. Optical materials and components. Test method for climate resistance of optical glass. | Status: Current, Under review

What is ISO 22531 - Test method for climate resistance of optical glass about?

ISO 22531 specifies the test method for climate resistance of optical glass and the classification of the optical glass according to the test results.

To evaluate the climate resistance of optical glass in its operating environment, the hazes of polished glass surfaces before and after testing are measured with the haze meter specified in ISO 14782, and the climate resistance is determined by the change in the amount of haze.

Who is ISO 22531 - Test method for climate resistance of optical glass for?

ISO 22531 on test methods for climate resistance of optical glass is useful for:

• Opticians
• Optical testers
• Optical glasses manufacturers
• Optical equipment purchasers

Why should you use ISO 22531 - Test method for climate resistance of optical glass?

The tests in ISO 22531 provide the manufacturers of optical glass information about the identification of the samples, the method used, the designation of climate resistance, and any deviation from the procedure.

ISO 22531 also provides us with the test conditions for the thermostatic chambers and the procedure for polishing and cleaning the specimens. The test methods in ISO 22531 helps to ensure trust in the reliability of the optical glass by demonstrating their quality and effectiveness.
