What is BS ISO 22561 about?
ISO 22561 is an international standard on gasoline engines that specifies the dimensions required for the installation and integration of the fuel injectors in gasoline (GDI) engines.
ISO 22561 also describes the interface of the fuel injector cup within the fuel rail to the individual injector.
Who is ISO 22561 for?
ISO 22561 on gasoline engines is useful for:
- Mechanical engineers
- Manufacturers and suppliers of fuel injectors
- Personnel of engine fuel systems
Why should you use ISO 22561?
A fuel injector is a device energized by an electrical signal that opens an internal valve via a solenoid or a piezo-electric actuator and injects fuel directly into the combustion chamber.
ISO 22561 provides the description of the fuel injector which are divided into 2 types for diameter:
- Type A with a 6 mm nozzle diameter
- Type B with a 7,5 mm nozzle diameter.
ISO 22561 gives the measure of dimensions of the fuel injectors in gasoline (GDI) engines, which are important for its installation within the cylinder head.
For the sealing performance, ISO 22561 provides the required geometric accuracy (cylindricity, coaxial, parallelism, and perpendicularity) of the injector location in the cylinder head and fuel rail at the final assembly under all thermal and pressure conditions.
Dimensions of injector cup, cylinder head-bore, and high-pressure connector are given in ISO 22561 that are important with respect to the assembly process to ensure reliable injector operation.
Overall, ISO 22561 helps you in the designing and installation of gasoline fuel injection equipment used in motor vehicles to provide better power output, fuel efficiency, emissions performance, reliability along smooth operation and maintenance.
