What is ISO 22622 – Wear of total ankle joint prostheses about?
ISO 22622 discusses Implants for surgery. ISO 22622 is an international standard on parameters for wear-testing machines in implants for surgery.
ISO 22622 specifies the relative angular movement between articulating components, the pattern of the applied force, speed and duration of testing, sample configuration for the wear testing of total ankle-joint prostheses.
ISO 22622 also provides a test environment to be used for the wear testing of total ankle-joint prostheses in wear-testing machines with load or displacement control.
Note: ISO 22622 is based on the method described by ISO 14243-1 and ISO 14243-3 and allows for the use of the same test equipment as for total knee replacement wear testing.
Who is ISO 22622 – Wear of total ankle joint prostheses for?
ISO 22622 on wear of total ankle joint prostheses is useful for:
- Surgical implants manufacturers
- Test centers for surgical implants
- Regulatory authorities
Why should you use ISO 22622 – Wear of total ankle joint prostheses?
Ankle joint prostheses support the mobility of the ankle, even if the articular cartilage is already worn out. Ankle arthrodesis is the therapeutic fusion of the bones in the ankle joint that allows pain-free weight-bearing.
ISO 22622 guidelines assist you with requirements and procedures for loading and displacement parameters for wear-testing machines with load or displacement control, and corresponding environmental conditions for the test, for ankle joint prostheses.
ISO 22622 also provides results for Loading and displacement parameters for wear-testing machines with load or displacement control for ankle joint prostheses.
By adopting ISO 22622 the end-user assists in standardizing the acceptable quality for ankle joint prostheses to ensure patients’ health and safety.
