What is ISO 22741‑1 - Intelligent transport system about?
ISO 22741‑1 is an International Standard that focuses on intelligent transport systems. It gives an overview of roadside modules AP-DATEX data interface.
ISO 22741‑1 specifies field devices are a key component in intelligent transport systems (ITS). Field devices include traffic signals, message signs, weather stations, traffic sensors, roadside equipment for connected ITS (C-ITS) environments, etc.
Who is ISO 22741‑1 - Intelligent transport system for?
ISO 22741‑1 on intelligent transport systems and roadside modules AP-DATEX data interface is useful for:
- Transportation service provider
- Traffic signal control systems
- Manufacturing companies of automatic incident detection systems
- Data warehouses of government authorities and road transportation
Why should you use ISO 22741‑1 - Intelligent transport system?
The need for standardized communication with field devices is growing around the world. Several countries have already adopted application profile data exchange (AP-DATEX)-based field device communication standards. Field devices often need to exchange information with other external entities. Field devices can be quite complex, necessitating the standardization of many data concepts for exchange. ISO 22741‑1 introduces and provides normative content that applies to the rest of the series.
ISO 22741‑1 helps to grow opinion, supported by empirical evidence, that standardizing this activity will result in improved intelligent transport service (ITS) performance, reduced cost, reduced deployment time and improved maintainability.
By using ISO 22741‑1, agencies can specify open procurements and systems can be expanded geographically in an open and non-proprietary manner, which reduces the costs, speeds and deployment, and simplifies the integration.
