What is ISO 22762-5 about?
ISO 22762-5 is the fifth element of a multi-series standard. It includes specifications for elastomeric seismic protection isolators.
ISO 22762-5 specifies minimum requirements and test methods for flat sliding seismic - protection isolators used for buildings and the materials used in the manufacture of such isolators.
The sliders are each mounted on elastomeric bearings to provide vertical compliance and rotational flexibility about horizontal axes.
Note 1: ISO 22762-5 applicable to flat sliding seismic-protection isolators used to provide buildings with protection from earthquake damage.
Who is ISO 22762-5 for?
ISO 22762-5 on sliding seismic - protection isolators for buildings is useful for:
- Designers and developers of the seismic isolators
- Manufacturers and distributors of seismic isolators
- Importers of seismic isolator
Why should you use ISO 22762-5?
ISO 22762-5 gives information about elastomeric seismic base isolators which separate a structure (building/bridge) from ground movements during an earthquake. This way, the incoming vibration energy caused by the earthquake is reduced.
ISO 22762-5 gives you the minimum requirements and test methods for elastomeric sliding isolators used for buildings and the rubber material used in the manufacture of such isolators. Furthermore, ISO 22762-5 assists the buyers about the placement between a superstructure and its substructure to provide both flexibility for decoupling structural systems from ground motion, and damping capability to reduce displacement at the isolation interface. Also, using ISO 22762-5 is beneficial for you as it allows the transmission of energy from the ground into the structure at the isolation frequency.
