What is ISO 22915‑15 about?
ISO 22915‑15 specifies the tests for verifying the stability of counterbalanced fork-lift trucks with articulating steering and with mast, equipped with fork arms or load-handling attachments.
Note: ISO 22915‑15 is not applicable to trucks with retractable devices such as a retractable mast or fork. By actively monitoring key parameters of the truck’s performance, the probabilityof possible accidents is reduced, and the amount of pallet movements is maximized. This allows operators to work with full confidence, keeping productivity high throughout a working day.
Who is ISO 22915‑15 for?
ISO 22915‑15 on verification of stability of trucks is useful for:
- Industrial Truck manufacturers
- Industrial Truck operator
- Safety regulatory bodies
- End purchaser
- Industrial truck servicemen
Why should you use ISO 22915‑15?
Operating a forklift requires not only an understanding of the controls to drive the forklift and the possible hazards of the workplace surroundings. Operators also need to understand the importance of load stability. While operating a forklift beyond its load capacity there is a likelihood of goods tip-over. A forklift can tip over sideways if the centre of gravity leaves the stability triangle.
Fork stability test in ISO 22915‑15 helps the operator to stack goods correctly and evenly, avoiding damage to goods and racking or risk tip-over. By conducting stability verification specified in ISO 22915‑15, the manufacturers can demonstrate the safety of their industrial trucks and ultimately reduce the risks of hazardous situations. The stability of these trucks shall be verified by means of the procedures specified in ISO 22915‑15.
