What is ISO 22917 – Precision superabrasives about?
This International aims to assist its users in producing and quality control of precision superabrasives grinding wheels.
ISO 22917 applies to all rotating grinding precision tools with diamond or cubic boron nitride with metal, vitrified or resinoid bonded cores, and circular bores for mounting the grinding tool on a clamping flange as well as to grinding points with cylindrical spindle for mounting in collets. ISO 22917 contains the significant limit deviations and run-out tolerances of these grinding tools.
Who is ISO 22917 – Precision superabrasives for?
ISO 22917 on limit deviations and run-out tolerances for grinding wheels with diamond or cubic boron nitride is useful for:
- Manufacturers of superabrasives
- Designers of precision grinders
- Quality control personnel
- Testing and inspection
Why should you use ISO 22917 – Precision superabrasives?
Precision superabrasives are widely used in the detailing and fabrication industries for their ability to give superior surface quality to even the hardest materials. Because these grinding machines are so powerful their design needs to be accurate and free from major deviations or it could affect the material’s surface quality.
ISO 22917 provides you with designations and limit deviations for straight, recessed, tapered and hubbed grinding wheels. These grinding wheels can be used for peripheral grinding and face grinding. ISO 22917 also provides you with designations, limit deviations and runout tolerances for mounted points and superabrasives with metal core.
Overall, the guidelines of ISO 22917 help you to design and produce high-quality precision grinding tools that can deliver smooth surface quality to the hardest of materials.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 22917:2016 replaces ISO 22917:2004, which has been technically revised with the following changes:
- Form E added
- Dimensions for dmin revised
- Dimensions for l1 partly revised
