What is ISO 22947 - Determination of carbon monoxide in cigarette smoke about ?
ISO 22947 is an international standard that serves the NDIR method for the determination of carbon monoxide in cigarette smoke which ensures compliance with the regulatory requirements to limit the content of carbon monoxide and limit its effect on users.
ISO 22947 specifies a method for determination of carbon monoxide (CO) in the vapour phase of cigarette smoke with an intense smoking regime.
In ISO 22947 method, the collection of the vapour phase of the cigarette smoke and measurement of the carbon monoxide is done using a non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) analyser calibrated for carbon monoxide.
Who is ISO 22947 - Determination of carbon monoxide in cigarette smoke for ?
ISO 22947 on determination of carbon monoxide in cigarette smoke is applicable to:
- Manufacturers of cigarettes
- Dealers and importers of cigarettes
- Testing houses and labs for cigarettes
- Regulatory bodies
Why should you use ISO 22947 - Determination of carbon monoxide in cigarette smoke ?
Carbon monoxide enters the bloodstream through the lungs and mixes with haemoglobin, preventing the blood from carrying oxygen to the body's cells. Fatigue, headache, dizziness, nausea and vomiting, mental disorientation and increased heart rate are all symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning.
ISO 22947 provides you guidance on principle, apparatus, standard gas mixtures, procedure, expression of results, repeatability, reproducibility and test report which enables you to perform the method correctly.
ISO 22947 provide you guidance on non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) method for the determination of carbon monoxide in cigarettes. ISO 22947 also provides you with a step-by-step procedure for the method which enables you to perform the method correctly to get accurate results.
Guidance in ISO 22947 enables you to determine carbon monoxide content which allows you to limit its presence in cigarettes according to regulatory requirements.
