What is BS ISO 22982‑2 about?
BS ISO 22982‑2 is the second part of the multi-series on transport packaging. BS ISO 22982‑2 specifies the test methods of temperature-controlled packages for parcel shipping.
Physical test methods are based on ISO 2233, ISO 4180 and test methods on insulation performance are based on the methodologies specified in ISTA Procedure 7E, ASTM D 3103. Under special circumstances where the weight of products and temperature show differences, agreements made between stakeholders are followed.
Who is BS ISO 22982‑2 for?
BS ISO 22982‑2 on transport packaging is useful for:
- Logistics companies / Supply chain management companies
- Owners of commercial transport vehicles
- Transport packaging manufacturers
- Supermarket chains and grocery stores
- Hotels and restaurants
- Ice cream manufacturers
- Poultry, meat, fisheries industries
- Package handlers
Why should you use BS ISO 22982‑2?
BS ISO 22982‑2 has been developed following a reflection on the situation where producers and users experience confusion regarding the test procedures of temperature-controlled transport packages for parcel shipping. Despite the increasing international attention to product safety and quality of cold chain parcel shipping through electronic commerce, an International Standard addressing the variations in the use of proper package testing has been missing.
BS ISO 22982‑2 addresses this confusion. BS ISO 22982‑2 provides tests that include physical, thermal conductivity and insulation performances of transport packages that use insulation to block thermal conduction between the inside and the outside of a product package that needs temperature control.
BS ISO 22982‑2 provides a test to measure the insulation performance of temperature-controlled packages based on existing or predicted parcel shipping temperature profiles. Using BS ISO 22982‑2 you will be able to ensure that the parcels in transit remain in optimum temperatures.
