What is ISO 23363 about?
ISO 23363 is an international standard that covers electrodeposited coatings and finishes related to it.
ISO 23363 specifies the requirements and recommendations for electroless Ni-P-ceramic composite coatings applied from aqueous solutions onto metallic and non-metallic substrates.
ISO 23363 discusses about the physicochemical properties and the structure of electroless Ni-P-ceramic composite coatings that are dependent on various aspects like the size, type, chemical inertness, and deposition homogeneity of the ceramic particles and plating conditions such as pH, temperature, plating bath composition, surfactants used, quality of the substrates and their pre-treatment, activation methods and post-heat treatment.
Note 1: As the deposited nickel alloy is a catalyst for the reaction, the process is self-sustaining or autocatalytic.
Note 2: ISO 23363 does not apply to ternary nickel alloys and nickel-boron ceramic composite coatings.
Who is ISO 23363 for?
ISO 23363 on metallic and other inorganic coatings is applicable for:
- Ships and boat manufacturers
- Heavy equipment manufacturers
- Automobiles Industry
- Trains and aircraft manufacturers
- Oil and gas pipelines Industry
Why should you use ISO 23363?
Electroless nickel-phosphorus (Ni-P) alloy coatings are produced by the controlled chemical reduction of nickel ions onto a catalytic surface in hot, usually moderately acidic or occasionally alkaline solutions having hypophosphite ion as the reducing agent.
ISO 23363 provides guidelines on requirements and recommendations for electroless Ni-P-ceramic composite coatings on metallic and non-metallic substrate. Electroless Ni-P-ceramic composite is applied to improve hardness, as well as wear, and corrosion-resistant properties of the coating depending on the nature of the ceramics.
By adopting ISO 23363 recommendations help you to improve the quality and durability of electroless Ni-P-ceramic composite coatings in electrodeposited coatings type of coatings on metallic and non-metallic substrate.
ISO 23363 classifies electroless Ni-P-ceramic composite coatings properties which useful for various application on metallic and non-metallic substrates.
