What is ISO 23446 about?
ISO 23446 discusses the quality of seawater for desalination. ISO 23446 provides guidelines for product water quality of seawater reverse osmosis (RO) desalination that is used for municipal water supply.
ISO 23446 specifies water quality parameters and ranges, monitoring frequency and test methods to ensure the compatibility of the product water with the pipelines. Standardization of the product water quality is important and useful for the protection of pipelines and related equipment that may corrode. The key parameters are monitored to meet the related limits and range. Product water will be compatible with municipal pipelines and related equipment.
Technology and cost advantages help the reverse osmosis (RO) process that has been used increasingly for seawater desalination. Desalted water of seawater RO desalination is low in minerals and poorly buffered.
Who is ISO 23446 for?
ISO 23446 on marine technology is useful for:
- Water engineers
- Regulatory authorities
- Municipal water supply bodies
- Water testing laborites
Why should you use ISO 23446?
Freshwater scarcity affects the sustainable development of society. Seawater desalination is an effective way to meet water needs. In some regions, it is almost the primary source of municipal water supply.
ISO 23446 provides guidelines on key parameters to manage the product water quality of seawater RO desalination for municipal water supply that are intended to assist water engineers, authorities, decision-makers, and stakeholders in evaluating the compatibility of product water with pipelines and devices.
ISO 23446 provides post-treatment and test methods for desalted water quality and product water quality. These tests are necessary to achieve a balanced mineral content in the desalinated water
