What is ISO 23468 about?
ISO 23468 is an international standard on power reactor analyses and measurements which covers the determination of heavy water isotopic purity.
ISO 23468 specifies an analytical method for determining heavy water isotopic purity by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). ISO 23468 is applicable to the determination of the whole range of heavy water concentration.
The method is devoted to process controls at the different steps of the process systems in heavy water reactor power plant or any other related areas.
ISO 23468 method applies for heavy water isotopic purity measurements in a heavy water reactor power plant or research reactor, heavy water production factory and heavy water related areas.
Who is ISO 23468 for?
ISO 23468 on reactor technology is relevant to:
- Companies dealing with nuclear reactor/ power reactor
- Manufacture for Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy
Why should you use ISO 23468?
The purpose of reactor technology is to research applications and electricity which is generated from nuclear energy. Many nuclear reactors technology had been built with larger electricity output.
Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) is a method in which a sample is subjected to excitation of molecular bonds by pulsed, broad-band infra-red radiation and the Fourier transform mathematical method is used to obtain an absorption spectrum
As a buyer of ISO 23468 you are provided with the terms and use such as heavy water which contains a higher-than-normal proportion of the heavy isotopes of hydrogen in combination with oxygen, light water which contain natural abundance of protium and deuterium, heavy water isotopic purity which provides a percentage of deuterium atoms in the total number of all hydrogen’s atoms including deuterium, protium and tritium atoms.
ISO 23468 gives the precision of products by testing the results and measuring the results which are obtained under stipulated conditions.
