What is ISO 23670 about?
ISO 23670 discusses standards for vibration testing of spacecraft. ISO 23670 provides you guidance and requirements for test providers and interested parties to implement vibration testing.
ISO 23670 focuses on the methods, including the force limiting approach, to mitigate unnecessary over-testing of spacecraft, subsystems, and units for space application.
ISO 23670 also covers the technical requirements can be tailored to meet the actual test objectives.
ISO 23670 specifies:
- Test technical requirements
- Specimen configuration requirements
- Equipment requirements
- Test facility requirements
- Test interruption and handling
- Test data and result evaluation
Who is ISO 23670 for?
ISO 23670 on vibration testing of space systems is applicable to:
- Quality control / testing and compliance personnel for space system
- Space activity operators
- Spacecraft manufacturers
- Regulatory authorities
- Aerospace and defense industries
- Testing agencies involved in vibration testing of aircraft
Why should you use ISO 23670?
Vibration testing is one of the most important test items of space systems. The goal of vibration testing is to verify the design and to detect manufacturing issues of spacecraft, subsystems and units that could result in in-flight failures. In spacecraft design, material selection, manufacture, assembly and integration phase, the tests listed in ISO 23670 aims on exposing defects and non-conformances existing and eliminating potential quality problems.
ISO 23670 provides you with test specifications including testing level, frequency range, test direction and test duration. Following test guidelines you can ensure reliability of you spacecraft.
The guidelines provided in ISO 23670 help you in testing the aircraft and in the preparation of test results and reports.
By adopting ISO 23670, manufacturers can demonstrate the reliability of their spacecrafts and build trust in its use throughout the aerospace supply chain.
