What is ISO 23700 about?
ISO 23700 discusses wrought magnesium and magnesium alloys. This international standard aids the users to produce high-quality magnesium products by guiding them in the production and evaluation phases.
ISO 23700 is applicable to rolled magnesium and magnesium alloy plates and sheets. ISO 23700 specifies chemical composition, mechanical properties, dimension and shape tolerance, heat treatment and the technical conditions for inspection and delivery of rolled magnesium and magnesium alloy plates and sheets.
Who is ISO 23700 for?
ISO 23700 on rolled magnesium and magnesium alloy plates and sheets is applicable to:
- Manufacturers of magnesium and magnesium alloy parts and components
- Dealers, distributors and importers of magnesium parts and components
- Testing houses for metallic alloys
Why should you use ISO 23700?
Magnesium alloy plates and sheets are the most often used magnesium die-cast alloy, and they have a great mix of mechanical characteristics, corrosion resistance, and castability.
ISO 23700 provides you with the classification of commercially available magnesium and magnesium alloy rolled plates and sheets into a number of grades suitable for the application which helps you to standardize and assess the quality of the plates and sheets.
ISO 23700 also gives you guidance on requirements, test procedures, such as sampling for chemical analysis and mechanical testing which helps you in investigating the adulteration of the magnesium and thus enables you in casting the alloys.
ISO 23700 informs you about inspection documents, marking, packing, transportation and storage and more which allows you to enhance the business calibre of your magnesium components.
