What is ISO 23738 about?
ISO 23738 specifies the procedure for measuring the spectral reflectance of fine ceramic thin films in an environment with variable relative humidity by using a general-purpose spectrophotometer.
ISO 23738 provides test methods that enable changes in the spectral reflectance of fine ceramic coatings in a humid environment due to water adsorption to be evaluated easily and accurately.
Who is ISO 23738 for?
ISO 23738 on spectral reflectance of fine ceramic thin films is relevant to:
- Telecommunication industry
- Remote sensing technologies
- Infrared sensor cut filters manufacturers
- X-ray sensor cut filters manufacturers
- Band-pass filters manufacturers
Why should you use ISO 23738?
Fine ceramic thin films are used in many optical applications, such as anti-reflective coatings, infrared sensor cut filters, X-ray sensor cut filters and band-pass filters. Even though the spectral reflectance of fine ceramic thin films is specified for each product, the refractive index and the optical properties change if these thin films are exposed to a humid environment.
ISO 23738 provides you with standard test methods for evaluating the reliability of these films under a range of humidity conditions. As a result, you can easily and accurately evaluate changes in the spectral reflectance of fine ceramic coatings due to water adsorption.
With the help of ISO 23738, you can promote rapid adoption of this test method to facilitate further growth in this industry, with improved product development initiatives.
ISO 23738:2021 contributes to the following three UN Sustainable Development goals:
- 7 on ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all
- 9 on industry, innovation and infrastructure
- 13 on taking urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts
