What is ISO 24042 about?

ISO 24042 specifies requirements for the design, operation, performance, and acceptance tests of tandem mooring winches.

It is applicable to the design, manufacture and acceptance of tandem mooring winches for crude oil offloading systems of liquid cargo handling equipment.

Who is ISO 24042 for?

ISO 24042 on tandem mooring winches is relevant to:

• Ships and marine manufacturers
• Port products manufacturers
• Design engineers for port applications
• Quality control personnel for marine applications

Why should you use ISO 24042?

Mooring winch is a mechanical device used for securing a ship to the berth.

ISO 24042 covers types, design and acceptance tests for tandem mooring winches. Acceptance tests include:

• No-load test
• Hawser deployment and recovery test
• Braking test
• SWL test
• Quick release function test
• Full load quick release test

For safe and efficient operations between the floating production unit and a shuttle tanker, adopt ISO 24042-compliant best industry guidance for high performance and durable tandem mooring systems.
