What is ISO 24043 about?
ISO 24043 specifies requirements for the design, operation, and acceptance tests of hose reels for crude oil offloading systems. Adopting ISO 24043 can enable safe and secure transfer for crude oil to a shuttle tanker.
ISO 24043 applies to the design, manufacture, and acceptance of hose reels for crude oil offloading systems used on marine structures such as floating production storage & offloading (FPSO) and mobile platforms.
Who is ISO 24043 for?
ISO 24043 on hose reels for crude oil offloading systems is useful for:
- Ships and marine technology providers
- Hose reels manufacturers
- Storage and offloading system providers
- Manufacturers of parts and equipment used in marine technology
- Product design engineers
- Mechanical engineers
Why should you use ISO 24043?
The hose reel is mainly composed of a drum, a through-flow unit, frames, drive units, a brake device, an emergency release device, operating devices, and auxiliary equipment.
ISO 24043 ensures basic functions of hose reels are met. Those include:
- The capacity to store, retrieve and launch the hose
- Flow of fluid medium with certain pressure during the offloading operation
- In case of emergency, the hose reel shall have the capacity to release the offloading hose and emergency shutdown of the flow pipe
The guidelines given in ISO 24043 helps in designing the structure and dimensions of the aforementioned components, for optimal operational efficiency during crude oil transfer, while minimising risks of leakages and product failure.
You can adopt ISO 24043 to ensure that hose reels adhere to the best industry specifications for improved acceptability for various loading facilities and installations worldwide.
