What is ISO 24068‑1 about?
ISO 24068‑1 is the first part of the ISO 24068 series of documents that specifies a method for the determination of the degree of cure of one- and multi-component sealants as indicated by the build-up of the tensile properties in dumbbell-shaped specimens during cure.
Who is ISO 24068‑1 for?
ISO 24068‑1 on the degree of cure of sealant is useful for:
- Builders
- Civil engineers
- Manufacturers of sealants used for construction
Why should you use ISO 24068‑1?
Curing is the process that controls the loss of moisture from concrete after it has been placed in position, or in the manufacture of concrete products, thereby providing time for the hydration of the cement to occur.
ISO 24068‑1 determines the degree of cure of a dumbbell-shaped test specimen of a sealant so as to calculate the ratio between the value of engineering tensile stress or maximum tensile strength at any time during cure, and the corresponding value measured after a reference cure period.
ISO 24068‑1 provides the apparatus and materials used for manufacturing the sealant sheets and test methods for conditioning and preparation of test specimens.
Overall, ISO 24068‑1 assist you in calculating tensile stress and tensile strength of the dumbbell-shaped test specimen sealants to ensure strength, elasticity, movement capability, and weather resistance during construction.
