What is ISO 24068-2 about?
ISO 24068-2 is the second part of the ISO 24068 series of documents that specifies a method for the determination of the degree of cure of one- and multi-component sealants used in joints as indicated by the build-up of the tensile and adhesion properties in test joint specimens during cure.
Who is ISO 24068-2 for?
ISO 24068‑2 on the degree of cure of sealant is useful for:
- Builders
- Civil engineers
- Manufacturers of sealants
Why should you use ISO 24068-2?
Curing is the process that controls the loss of moisture from concrete after it has been placed in position, or in the manufacture of concrete products, thereby providing time for the hydration of the cement to occur.
The degree of cure of joint-shaped test specimen of a sealant is determined in ISO 24068-2 so as to calculate the ratio between the value of engineering tensile stress and/or tensile strength at any time during cure and the corresponding value measured after a reference cure period.
ISO 24068‑2 provides the apparatus and materials used for manufacturing the sealant sheets and test methods for conditioning and preparation of test specimens.
Overall, ISO 24068-2 assists you in estimating the degree of cure of a sealant to test parameters such as tensile stress, tensile strength, cure intervals, and conditioning procedures to ensure strength, elasticity, movement capability, and weather resistance during construction.
