What is ISO 24337 - Determination of geometrical characteristics for laminate floor coverings about?
ISO 24337 discusses the determination of geometrical characteristics for laminate floor coverings.
ISO 24337 gives test methods to determine the dimensional variance between elements of laminate floor coverings in a manufactured free-standing shape (unrestricted) in respect of thickness, length, width, squareness, straightness, width flatness, length flatness, openings between assembled elements and height differences between assembled elements.
Note: ISO 24337 also applicable to other mechanically assembled panels, e.g., modular multilayer floorings.
Who is ISO 24337 - Determination of geometrical characteristics for laminate floor coverings for?
ISO 24337 on the determination of geometrical characteristics for laminate floor coverings is useful for:
- Manufacturers of laminate floor coverings
- Installers of floor coverings
- Designers of floor coverings
Why should you use ISO 24337 - Determination of geometrical characteristics for laminate floor coverings?
ISO 24337 provides test methods to determine the dimensional variance between elements of laminate floor coverings in a manufactured free-standing shape (unrestricted) in respect of thickness, length, width, squareness, straightness, width flatness, length flatness, openings between assembled elements, and height differences between assembled elements. This helps you during manufacturing and installing laminate floor coverings to provide quality service for users or consumers.
While installing floor coverings, if the performance criteria are not followed. This can cause the installed laminate floor cover panels to line up unevenly, producing unsightly seams, uneven surfaces, and corners that do not match.
ISO 24337 specifies the method for the determination of geometrical characteristics for laminate floor coverings which makes the installation process easier and more reliable.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 24337:2019 supersedes BS ISO 24337:2006, which is withdrawn.
BS ISO 24337:2019 includes some technical changes with respect to BS ISO 24337:2006.
These include:
- A note has been added to the scope
- In 8.1, an option is now given to measure thickness of elements with pre-attached underlay and, in 5.7, the apparatus needed has been added
- In 8.6.2, Figure 10 has been added for clarification of convex or concave deviation of flatness
- In 8.8.1, a note has been added to allow assembly of extra planks
- Figure 12 is also the test assembly for measuring height differences
