What is ISO 24613-5 - Lexical base exchange (LBX) serialization about?
ISO 24613-5 discusses lexical markup framework (LMF). ISO 24613-5 provides the best industry guidance on serialization lexical markup framework (LMF).
ISO 24613-5 describes the serialization of the lexical markup framework (LMF) model defined as an extensible markup language (XML) model derived from the language base exchange (LBX) schema and compliant with the W3C XML schema. This serialization covers the classes, data categories, and mechanisms of ISO 24613-1 (core model), ISO 24613-2 (machine-readable dictionary (MRD) model), and ISO 24613-3 (etymological extension).
Who is ISO 24613-5 - Lexical base exchange (LBX) serialization for?
ISO 24613-5 on core model of Lexical markup framework (LMF) is useful for:
- LMF framework developer
- LMF language designer
- Language resource management department
Why should you use ISO 24613-5 - Lexical base exchange (LBX) serialization?
Lexical markup framework (LMF) is an abstract metamodel that provides a common, standardized framework for the construction of computational lexicons. Serialization is the process of converting an object into a stream of bytes to store the object or transmit it to memory, a database, or a file.
The core model of LMF under ISO 24613-5 ensures the encoding of linguistic information in a way that enables reusability in different applications and for different tasks and provides a common, shared representation of lexical objects, including morphological, syntactic and semantic aspects.
ISO 24613-5 provides guidelines for various implementation use cases, and where appropriate describes LMF compliant serializations that fit various application contexts.
ISO 246135 helps you with language resource management using the development of detailed descriptions of common etymological phenomena and/or diachronic information. This can be used to easily and accurately trace back the origin of information which is vital for your documentation, data management and publication needs.
What’s changed since the last update?
This first edition of BS ISO 24613-5, together with BS ISO 24613-1:2019, BS ISO 24613-2:2020, BS ISO 24613-3:2021 and BS ISO 24613-4:2021, cancels and replaces BS ISO 24613:2008, which has been technically revised. The main change compared to the previous edition is the entire revision of the content and its subdivisions into several parts.
