What is ISO 2861 about?
ISO 2861 discuss vacuum technology. Vacuum technology is a method used to evacuate air from a closed volume by creating a pressure differential from the closed volume to some vent, the ultimate vent being the open atmosphere. ISO 2861 specifies the dimensions of the clamped-type quick-release couplings used in vacuum technology, as well as those of the O-rings and their carriers associated with these couplings, used to ensure vacuum tightness. The dimensions retained for the coupling diameter ensure the compatibility of the quick-release coupling with the corresponding vacuum flanges specified in ISO 1609.
Note: The types and dimensions of clamps to tight couplings are not specified in ISO 2861.
Who is ISO 2861 for?
ISO 2861 on vacuum technology is useful for:
- Vacuum equipment manufacturers
- Design engineers
- Quality control personnel
Why should you use ISO 2861?
Vacuum technology deals with technological processes and equipment that use vaccums to achieve better results than those that run under atmospheric pressure. ISO 2861 discusses clamped-type quick-release couplings are the connection that may be joined or separated without the use of tools. It is one of the most popular methods and is also the simplest in design as this method can be used when joining two piping units or hoses.
The selection of the material for clamped-type quick-release couplings is compatible with the requirements for the couplings. Considerations may include service temperature, sealing capacity, corrosion resistance, magnetic permeability, the type of seal gasket (O-ring) used and dimensions. Using ISO 2861 you can specify the dimensions of clamped-type quick-release couplings used in vacuum technology.
