What is ISO 2928 about?
ISO 2928 is an international standard on rubber hoses and hose assemblies for LPG to improve the efficacy of rubber hoses and hose assemblies.
ISO 2928 specifies requirements for rubber hoses and rubber hose assemblies used for the transfer of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in the liquid or gaseous phase and natural gas.
ISO 2928 is designed for use at working pressures ranging from vacuum to a maximum of 2,5 MPa (25 bar) within the temperature range −30 °C to +70 °C or, for low-temperature hoses (designated -LT), within the temperature range −50 °C to +70 °C.
Who is ISO 2928 for?
ISO 2928 on rubber hoses and hose assemblies is applicable to:
- Manufacturers of rubber hoses
- Suppliers, distributer and importers of rubber hoses
- Companies involved in safety inspections
Why should you use ISO 2928?
A rubber hose is a hollow tube that is used to transport fluids from one place to another. A hose has a cylindrical shape. They are used to transport air or other gases in water or other liquid settings.
ISO 2928 provides you with information for hose and hose assembly on materials, construction, dimensions, physical properties, electrical resistance, frequency of testing, flammability test and more which allow you to ensure safe and leak-free operations.
The requirements and specifications provided by ISO 2928 assists you in improving the performance of rubber hose and hose assembly and ensure the secure transfer of fluids from one location to another.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 2928:2021 replaces ISO 2928:2003, which is now withdrawn. Technical changes in BS ISO 2928:2021 include –
- Renaming of nominal size 9 into nominal size 10 and of nominal size 12 into nominal size 13 in Tables 1 and 2
- Addition of hoses with a nominal size 10 in Table 1
- Addition of non-pricked hoses in Table 3
- Expansion of the hose/hose assembly classes in Clause 4
