What is ISO 29842-Balanced incomplete block designs for sensory analysis about?
ISO 29842 is an international standard on sensory analysis that discusses the balanced incomplete block designs for sensory analysis to improve the quality of food products.
ISO 29842 specifies a method for the application of balanced incomplete block designs to sensory descriptive and hedonic tests.
ISO 29842 applies when the number of test samples exceeds the number of evaluations that an assessor can perform reliably in a single session.
ISO 29842 also specifies the fundamental characteristics of balanced incomplete block designs and establishes guidelines for their application in sensory evaluation.
Who is ISO 29842-Balanced incomplete block designs for sensory analysis for?
ISO 29842 on the balanced incomplete block designs for sensory analysis is useful for:
- Food scientists
- Food product manufacturers
- Food technologists
- Food quality assurance authorities
- Food health and safety departments
Why should you use ISO 29842-Balanced incomplete block designs for sensory analysis?
Balanced incomplete block (BIB) designs apply to sensory tests in which the total number of samples is greater than the number that can be evaluated before sensory and psychological fatigue set in. In BIB designs, each assessor evaluates only a subset of the total number of samples in a single session.
ISO 29842 provides you guidance with the specification of balanced incomplete block designs, Data analysis, Analysis of variance for rating data, ANOVA table for balanced incomplete block design (single repetition) and application of sensory evaluation.
The methods provided by ISO 29842 assist in quality control, determining shelf life, gauging the readiness for product launch, assessing product success, flavor profiling, and identifying the attributes driving consumer preferences.
With obedience and compliance to ISO 29842, you can enhance the efficacy of the food products and manufacture a standardized hig-quality product.
