What is ISO 311201 - Water quality requirements for road vehicles about?
ISO 31120 is a series on road vehicles. A road vehicle is a machine that transports people or cargo. ISO 311201 specifies water quality used for water injection in internal combustion engines.
ISO 311201 defines quality requirements for injection water including instructions for storage, container materials and production. Testing procedures are also defined.
Who is ISO 311201 - Water quality requirements for road vehicles for?
ISO 311201 on the water quality requirements for road vehicles is useful for:
- Vehicle manufacturing industries
- Vehicle maintenance stations
- Quality control personnel
Why should you use ISO 311201 - Water quality requirements for road vehicles?
Land vehicles are classified broadly by what is used to apply to steer and drive forces against the ground: wheeled, tracked, railed, or skied. The purpose of ISO 311201 is to define the quality requirements of the water to be used in a water injection system of an internal combustion engine. The intention is to ensure that a consistent product is available to automobile manufacturers from water producers by defining an agreed standard against which to supply the product.
In order to protect IW from any contamination carried by air, well-closed containers or vented containers with filters are used. In addition, the temperature during transportation and storage has an impact on shelf life according to ISO 311201. In order to avoid excessive temperature rise, IW should be protected from sunlight. In order to prevent freezing of IW, storage below 5 °C should be avoided. Frozen IW may be warmed up at temperatures not exceeding 30 °C. It will not be impaired in quality and may be used as soon as the warmed-up solution is free from solids. Using ISO 311201 you can specify the water quality used for water injection in internal combustion engines.
