What is ISO 3116- Wrought magnesium and magnesium alloys about?
ISO 3116 is a safety standard on wrought magnesium and magnesium alloys.
ISO 3116 specifies the chemical composition and mechanical properties of magnesium and magnesium alloys for wrought products in the form of bars and solid sections, tubes, and hollow sections, forgings, and plate and sheet.
Note: The number representing the result for any value specified in ISO 3116 shall be expressed to the same number of decimal places as the corresponding number in ISO 3116.
Who is ISO 3116- Wrought magnesium and magnesium alloys for?
ISO 3116 on wrought magnesium and magnesium alloys is relevant to:
- Manufacturers of magnesium wrought alloys
- Aerospace industries
- Mechanical engineers and thermomechanical engineers
- Metallurgical engineers
Why should you use ISO 3116- Wrought magnesium and magnesium alloys?
Magnesium alloys are used in the wrought form including extruded bars, sections, and tubes, and also forgings and rolled sheets.
ISO 3116 classifies the commercially available magnesium alloys into a number of grades suitable for the application to which they might be put. Some of the alloys referenced in this document can be the subject of a patent or of patent applications and their listing herein is not to be construed in any way as the granting of a license under such patent rights.
Overall, ISO 3116 is useful as it provides guidance on the wrought magnesium and magnesium alloys which can be helpful for your business.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 3116:2019 replaces the fourth edition (ISO 3116:2007), which has been technically revised to include wrought magnesium alloys that have been developed in the past few years.
