What is ISO 3353‑1 about?
ISO 3353 is a series of international standards on lead and runout threads that discusses the best procedures and specifications required for inspection and producing precise rolled external threads. ISO 3353‑1 is the first part of a series of documents on threads. ISO 3353‑1 specifies the lead and runout requirements for rolled external threads for aerospace construction, and the inspection method to be used in case of a dispute.
ISO 3353‑1 is applicable whenever it is referenced in a definition document.
Who is ISO 3353‑1 for?
ISO 3353‑1 on rolled external threads is relevant to:
- Producer of rolled external threads
- Aerospace industry
Why should you use ISO 3353‑1?
Roll threading is a process by which steel is extruded to form the threaded portion of a fastener, instead of being removed as in cut threading.
ISO 3353‑1 provides guidance on lead threads, runout threads, normal shank, pitch diameter shank, stepped shank, screws threaded to the head, bolts threaded to a shoulder, oversized bolts, and inspection method.
As a user of ISO 3353‑1, you can be ensured of the lead and runout requirements for rolled external threads. With obedience and compliance to ISO 3353‑1, you can efficiently produce high-quality rolled external threads. With ISO 3353‑1 you can be ensured that the threads consistently meet and exceed quality assurance targets. ISO 3353‑1 helps you to build consumer trust and confidence in the product.
