What is ISO 3529-2 about?
ISO 3529 is a series on vacuum technology. Vacuum technology is a method used to evacuate air from a closed volume by creating a pressure differential from the closed volume to some vent, the ultimate vent being the open atmosphere. ISO 3529-2 gives definitions of vacuum pumps and related terms. ISO 3529-2 is a continuation of ISO 3529-1 which defines general terms used in vacuum technology.
Who is ISO 3529-2 for?
ISO 3529-2 on vacuum technology is useful for:
- Vacuum equipment manufacturers
- Vacuum equipment supplier and distributor
- Design engineers
- Research and development facilities
- Quality control personnel
Why should you use ISO 3529-2?
Vacuum technology deals with technological processes and equipment that use vaccums to achieve better results than those that run under atmospheric pressure. ISO 3529-2 discusses vacuum pump, device for creating, improving and/or maintaining a vacuum. Two distinct categories are considered in ISO 3529-2, gas transfer pumps and gas gathering vacuum pumps.
A gas transfer vacuum pump transports gas molecules from the inlet to the outlet of the vacuum pump by means of positive displacement or transfer of kinetic momentum. A gas gathering vacuum pump that captures gas in a solid or adsorbed state. Using ISO 3529-2 you can gain information on general terms and definitions of vacuum pumps and vacuum technology.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 3529-2 :2020 supersedes BS ISO 3529-2 :1981. BS ISO 3529-2 :2020 includes some technical changes with respect to BS ISO 3529-2 :1981. These include:
- Under positive displacement pumps are added diaphragm-, peristaltic-, scroll-, screw-, claw-and trochoid vacuum pumps
- Under kinetic vacuum pumps are added regenerative-and compound turbo vacuum pump
- Under gas entrapment or capture, vacuum pumps different types of condensers are added
- Underparts, categories, and characteristics of vacuum pumps are added some new actual used definitions
