What is ISO 37163 about?
ISO 37163 discusses smart community infrastructures. ISO 37163 specifies procedures for installing and organizing smart transportation for parking lot allocation for drivers in cities. ISO 37163 is intended to be applied to cities, especially those having a shortage or low availability of parking lots. ISO 37163 aims to provide a solution to the city issue of drivers having difficulty in quickly finding parking lots with available spaces. ISO 37163 also aims to address other city issues such as traffic accidents, congestion and energy consumption.
ISO 37163 clarifies the concept and goals of smart transportation by referring to the technical aspects suggested by ITU‑T Y.4456[6].
Who is ISO 37163 for?
ISO 37163 on smart transportation for parking lot allocation in cities is useful for:
- Community leaders
- Local government authorities
- City planning officials
- Traffic department
- Civil Engineers
- Real estate developers
Why should you use ISO 37163?
The low availability of parking lots has unexpectedly caused other city issues. Drivers’ attention is taken up while searching, causing collisions to happen more often. Such incidents and slow driving result in traffic congestion. While driving an automobile at a low speed, more pollutants, particle materials (PMs) and greenhouse gases are emitted into the atmosphere. There is nothing positive about the low availability of parking lots in a city. Citizens, including drivers and people living next to public roads, experience such situations all the time.
ISO 37163 helps you to properly implement smart transportation for parking lot allocation and operate it successfully as planned. ISO 37163 sets up all the parameters necessary to draft a successful plan for parking lot allocation. The guidelines stated in ISO 37163 ensures that your citizens are able to locate parking spaces easily and make safe payments through a digital medium. ISO 37163 will also help you analyse the performance of smart transportation for parking lot allocation. Implementing ISO 37163 ensures a decrease in traffic accidents, congestion and energy consumption.
ISO 37163 contributes to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 on good health and well-being, Goal 7 on affordable and clean energy, Goal 8 on decent work and economic growth, Goal 9 on industry, innovation and infrastructure, Goal 11 on sustainable cities and communities, Goal 12 on responsible consumption and production, Goal 13 on climate action, and Goal 15 on life on land.
