What is ISO 3764 – Types, dimensions and nomenclature of timekeeping instruments about?
Timekeeping instruments are discoveries over the human timeline to measure time. With ages counting on, these timekeeping instruments developed and changed drastically. ISO 3764 specifies the types and fitting dimensions of mechanical and electromechanical watch-movements. ISO 3764 is applicable to the five following types of movements:
- Type 1: round;
- Type 2: shaped round;
- Type 3: round with double cutting;
- Type 4: 5 ½′′′;
- Type 5: 6 ¾ × 8′′′
Who is ISO 3764 - Types, dimensions and nomenclature of timekeeping instruments for?
ISO 3764 guidelines on types, dimensions and nomenclature of timekeeping instruments is useful for:
- Watch manufacturers
- Watch Repairing personnel
- Product development teams/innovation teams
- Quality control personnel
Why should you use ISO 3764 - Types, dimensions and nomenclature of timekeeping instruments?
With ages passing on timekeeping instruments also developed. The need for these instruments is very common while travelling outdoors. ISO 3764 also provides guidelines for the casing and outer diameters which helps in movements. Apart from that ISO 3764 mentions guidelines for mechanical and electromechanical thickness of the movement. ISO 3764 also provides necessary diagrams in between the texts for a better understanding of the subject.
Thus, the use of ISO 3764 helps in delivering watches with better quality and accuracy limits.
