What is ISO 3862 about?
ISO 3862 is an international standard used for rubber hoses and hose assemblies that helps in assembling the hydraulic hoses used for transporting oil and water fluids through these hollow tubes.
ISO 3862 specifies requirements for five types of spiral-wire-reinforced hydraulic hoses and hose assemblies of nominal size from 6,3 to 51.
Note: They are suitable for use with:
- Oil-based hydraulic fluids HH, HL, HM, HR and HV as defined in ISO 6743-4 at temperatures ranging from −40 °C to +100 °C for types 4SP and 4SH hoses and from −40 °C to +120 °C for types R12, R13 and R15 hoses
- Water-based fluids HFC, HFAE, HFAS and HFB as defined in ISO 6743-4 at temperatures ranging from −40 °C to +70 °C
- Water at temperatures ranging from 0 °C to +70 °C
Note 2: ISO 3862 does not include requirements for end fittings. It is limited to requirements for hoses and hose assemblies.
Note 3: It is the responsibility of the user, in consultation with the hose manufacturer, to establish the compatibility of the hose with the fluid to be used.
Who is ISO 3862 for?
ISO 3862 on Rubber hoses and hose assemblies is useful for:
- Manufacturer of hoses
- Manufacturer of liquid or gaseous tubes
- Chemical industries
- Gas stations
- Petroleum and mining
- Hospitals
- Food industries
- House piping systems
Why should you use ISO 3862?
Hydraulic systems connecting between two ports deliver hydraulic fluid to the machine component. The fluid-resistant test is carried out on moulded sheets of lining and cover compound. This test helps in resisting oil, water, ozone and is also resistant to oil and water impulse.
ISO 3862 helps you in assembling these rubber hoses which contain rubber lining, which results in resisting oil and water-based liquid.
ISO 3862 helps in classifying the five types of hoses and dimensions and provides specifications for each type of hoses based on their usage and utility.
