What is ISO 4097 about?
ISO 4097 discusses the evaluation procedure for ethylene-propylene-diene (EPDM) rubber.
ISO 4097 specifies:
- The physical and chemical tests on raw rubbers
- The standard materials, standard test formulations, equipment, and processing methods for evaluating the vulcanization characteristics of ethylene-propylene-diene rubbers (EPDM), including oil-extended types
Who is ISO 4097 for?
ISO 4097 on evaluation of EPDM rubber is useful for:
- Rubber processors/manufacturers
- Electronics manufacturers
- Automakers
- Solar panel manufacturers
Why should you use ISO 4097?
EPDM rubbers are known for their high resistance towards heat, light and ozone. This makes them suitable for use in harsher conditions, for example, door seals and wiper blades in cars. To produce high-quality rubber, you need to pay close attention to each and every aspect of its production.
ISO 4097 provides you with the complete evaluation procedure for EPDM rubber. ISO 4097 provides you with the reference of appropriate documents to evaluate the physical and chemical properties of EPDM rubber. ISO 4097 will also provide you with test method procedures to evaluate whether the physical requirements for EPDM rubber are being met during the vulcanization process. ISO 4097 helps you to verify your EPDM rubber’s production quality.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 4097:2020 replaces ISO 4097:2014, which has been technically revised. The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:
- Normative references have been updated in Clauses 2 and 10 d) and subclauses 5.3, and 7.1, in particular replacing ISO 247 by ISO 247-1 and ISO 247-2
- The standard formulations given in ISO 4097:2007 have been retained in ISO 4097:2014, to allow time for users to adapt to the new standard test formulations; they have been removed by deleting Annex B of the previous edition
