What is ISO 4205 - 90° countersinks about?
This international standard aims to assist its users in producing 90° countersinks.
ISO 4205 specifies the dimensions, in millimetres, and the tolerances of 90° countersinks with parallel shanks and solid pilots for general use.
Who is ISO 4205 - 90° countersinks for?
ISO 4205 on 90° countersinks with parallel shanks and solid pilots is useful for:
- Drill bit manufacturers
- Quality control personnel
- Suppliers of drill bits
Why should you use ISO 4205 - 90° countersinks?
When screws are screwed into holes drilled by normal drills their head tends to stick out on the surface of the material. To resolve this issue 90° countersinks are used, as the holes drilled by them allow the screw head to stick inside the material and prevent the slight protrusion of the screw head.
ISO 4205 provides you with detailed dimensions for 90° countersinks that help you in the production and quality control phases. ISO 4205 also provides you with designation guidelines to better utilize the guidance of the ISO 13399 series on cutting tool data representation and exchange.
Overall, the guidelines of ISO 4205 help you to produce quality 90° countersinks.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 4205:2016 replaces ISO 4205:1991, of which it constitutes a minor revision, notably with the addition of Annex A, which gives the relationship between the designations of this International Standard and the ISO 13399 series.
