What is ISO 4305 - Determination of the stability of mobile cranes about?
ISO 4305 discusses the determination of the stability of mobile cranes. ISO 4305 specifies the conditions to be taken into consideration when verifying the stability of a mobile crane by calculation, assuming that the crane is operating on a firm and level surface (up to 1 % gradient).
ISO 4305 applies to mobile cranes as defined in ISO 4306-2, i.e., appliances mounted on wheels (tires) or crawlers, with or without outriggers with the exception of loader cranes.
Who is ISO 4305 - Determination of the stability of mobile cranes for?
ISO 4305 on the determination of the stability of mobile cranes is useful for:
- Crane manufacturers
- Crane operators
- Safety regulatory bodies
Why should you use ISO 4305 - Determination of the stability of mobile cranes?
People who work with cranes can find themselves in hazardous situations where severe injury might occur to them. It’s important for the manufacturers, designers, and operators to assess all the risks associated with it.
By conducting stability verification specified in ISO 4305, the manufacturers can demonstrate the safety and stability of their industrial trucks increasing the operator’s confidence and ultimately reducing the risks of hazardous situations.
According to ISO 4305, the manufacturer should stipulate the special precautions to be taken by the user when the crane is out of service and the working limits when subjected to wind.
ISO 4305 intends that the stability-limited crane ratings should be usable in a minimum wind speed of 8,3 m/s. Under special conditions where this requirement imposes a restriction on rated capacity, the manufacturer shall clearly specify the maximum wind speed included in the stability calculation.
